    Scott D. Johnson is Professor of Marketing at the University of Michigan-Flint where he earlier served as Dean of the School of Management from 2013-2021.  His previous business dean positions include Illinois State University and Minnesota State University, Mankato.  Dr. Johnson received a Ph.D. in Marketing from the Eli Broad College of Business at Michigan State University.  He received an MBA from the Carlson School of Management, University of Minnesota and received a BA from the University of Minnesota with majors in German and Philosophy.  He is a member of Phi Beta Kappa.  Research interests include word-of-mouth communication and recommendation-based decision making in the selection and evaluation of professional service providers.  

    He has published in journals such as the Journal of Business Research, Business and Professional Ethics Journal, International Business Review, Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, Journal of Financial Planning, the Journal of Education for Business, The International Executive, Journal of Advertising, and The CPA Journal.  

    He has taught MBA courses in the U.S., Hong Kong, and Athens.  He has given numerous seminars in the area of customer, client and patient satisfaction and served as an expert witness in the area of trademark dilution.  He served on 20 peer review accreditation teams for AACSB International, the premier accrediting body for business schools.  He also served on the AACSB Continuous Improvement Review Committee and was President of the Midwest Business Deans Association (MABDA).  He began his academic career as an Assistant Professor of Marketing at the University of Louisville.  He worked in retail management prior to his academic career.  He lives with his wife Mary Johnson and has four grown children.
